Inherent Vice Premieres At NYFF; Watch Press Conference; More

And we're off!

Paul Thomas Anderson's 7th feature-length motion picture Inherent Vice has made its world premiere at the 52nd annual New York Film Festival, and yes, it was projected on 35mm. A plethora of reactions and opinions are still trickling in, as final screenings of the film will run well into the wee hours of tomorrow morning. You can find a lot of those opinions by simple punching "#InherentVice" into the Twitter search engine, but one response among both those who loved and didn't love the movie seem to be consistent: it is a wild fucking ride.

A press conference was held this morning after the movie's first public screening, with PTA and just about the entire cast of the film. It clocks in just a shade under 30 minutes, and you can watch it in its entirety above (BEWARE: minor spoilers).

Also revealed after the film's premiere this morning was that a new Radiohead song called "Spooks" is featured in the movie (we do not know if it will appear on the soundtrack album) (Thanks Amber B!) Click the link and listen at your own peril.

PTA introduced the film to a ravenous audience earlier today, we should have a full video of that for you tomorrow. It's all uphill from here folks!

Maya Rudolph Would Rather Not Talk About Inherent Vice Just Yet

Here is an all-around delightful interview with actor Sam Rockwell and PTA's long-time lady, actress Maya Rudolph, doing a promotional push for their new film The Way, Way Back, and wouldntcha know it... Maya gets asked about Inherent Vice. What transpires is an utterly endearing evasion of the question at hand. Admittedly, it's a bit of non-news, but it's still nice to see the film's title get thrown around. You might recognize the interviewer from the Collider interview with Amy Adams a while back, which also deviated from the film being promoted to talk about working with Paul. I think it might be fair to infer the dude is a fan.

Set Photos From Inherent Vice Emerge; Maya Rudolph Signs On

After weeks of letting your imagination run wild about what the production of Inherent Vice would actually look like, we are pleased to finally be able to offer you something tangible: set photos showing, for the very first time, Joaquin Phoenix, in full character and costume as Larry 'Doc' Sportello, and (perhaps a bit surprisingly) PTA's long-time partner and SNL-alum Maya Rudolph also in full character and costume. Though which role she'll take has not been confirmed, this marks the first on-screen collaboration for the couple. In case you don't want these images spoiled for ya, we'll include them after the jump (though they are pretty slight.)

In other news, Ohio will finally be getting The Master in 70mm for the first time this coming weekend at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Any buckeyes who have somehow managed to resist crossing state lines to experience the film in its intended format can find out more about that here.

UPDATE: Rudolph will be playing the role of Petunia Leeway, a nurse working for a doctor who administers B12 shots. Also, we've added several new pics of Joaquin from the set. Might be best to just keep reverting back to this page for now to see if anything else makes its way out there. We'll change things around accordingly.

It's A Boy!

Major congratulations are in order to Paul & Maya on the birth of their first son, Jack. Congrats guys! People Magazine writes...
The Bridesmaids star, 38, and director Paul Thomas Anderson welcomed their third child, son Jack, on July 3, her rep tells PEOPLE.

Jack – who is home and doing great – joins big sisters Pearl, 5½, and Lucille, 20 months.

While pregnant, Rudolph said she was especially excited to discover the sex of the baby, which she and Anderson chose not to find out prior to the delivery.

"The exciting part is not knowing who's coming," she explained. "You have to wait nine months for a surprise, but then it's a good payoff because it really is a surprise."
Feel free to leave them some well wishes in the comments on the off-chance that they might read them. Though we can only imagine how stressful it is having a baby while filming your movie, things have been very quiet since "The Master" moved to LA. The only thing of note we've come across is a short piece on Hollywood Elsewhere that points out the script's similarities to Herman Melville. Very interesting indeed.
Once again, congrats to Paul & Maya from C&RV and stay tuned on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news and updates (and babies).

We stumbled upon the Gloucester Housing Rentals in Massachusetts website while looking for photos for the site and they seem to be pretty happy about their semi-recent celebrity guests complete with photo evidence.
