Al Rose Promotions, a popular place for The Family to upload trailers and announcements, has come to life again today as a short trailer cut by PTA has surfaced showing dates for a UK screening of Inherent Vice. You have the floor, sir:
Watch a supercool new 60 second spot for "The Master" featuring Freddie freaking out in a courtroom and sitting in Dodd's office as well as some previously unreleased Jonny Greenwood score. It's not Russian and it is included on the Blu/DVD extras (though the new footage is not included in the "Back Beyond" short). You can watch all the teasers & trailers on our film page.
"The Master" is already in theatres but PTA decided to drop us one last trailer entitled "Last One / Thank You" which is an epic 4 1/2 minutes and features a ton of previously unseen footage (screened only for select journalists at Cannes). And to help you out, we've already updated our guide to the film's Deleted Scenes & Alternate Takes with all the new material. Enjoy.
IMDB has just posted the second theatrical trailer for "The Master," which our readers may recognize as the same one we posted about a few weeks ago playing before "The Bourne Legacy" in selected theatres. If you look closely you'll get a little glimpse at Melora Walters in the teaser-length promo which also features a handful of scenes not seen in all previous clips. Thanks to many of our astute readers for the headsup!
Just moments ago Al Rose Promotions unveiled another special teaser trailer featuring a coda advertising yet another benefit screening for "The Master," this one to be held tomorrow night at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. You will recall that Paul held a special advance screening of "There Will Be Blood" at the very same theatre 5 years ago and many had pegged this as a possibility on his "The Master" unofficial secret screenings tour. Like the Chicago screening, this will also benefit the Film Foundation and tickets will be $10. Believe that my Cigs & Vines partner CJ will be in attendance at this event so if you see him, feel free to say hello.
Over the weekend we learned that a new trailer for "The Master" had already quietly made its way into theatres. We asked our readers to get back to us with any details for the new trailer and reader Nate Eggert responded with a detailed synopsis.
With just over a month to go, the marketing for "The Master" appears to be in full swing. We've now received two separate reports that there is a brand new trailer for "The Master" currently playing in theatres. The first report comes via @BrianDuffield who wrote us the following about the clip.
Hey, there was definitely a new trailer in front of BOURNE LEGACY. Joaquin banging a window while Hoffman spoke. Amazing. [It's] absolutely not [the previously released trailer]. It had Joaquin banging a window rhythmically through out. Adams shoots a rifle at one point. It had Hoffman being led away by police (different shot than others), yelling back at the house. Joaquin kissing in a car.
The trailer was playing at the AMC in Century City before the 7:30pm showing of "The Bourne Legacy" on Friday night so we put out the call on Twitter to readers to see if anyone else had seen it and received a confirmation from another reader @Hendyhandel who confirmed "The new trailer's playing before "Bourne Legacy" at The Landmark in West LA. Window banging. AA fires a gun. It's legit." We assume this will makes its way online at some point but until then, if any other readers get a look at the trailer, please drop us a line with any further description.
We were damn grateful on May 21 when Paul finally decided to give us our first look at "The Master" in the form of a self-cut teaser trailer. But it looks like he isn't done yet as only a few weeks later, a second teaser trailer for his latest has surfaced on YouTube courtesy of "Al Rose Promotions." This one runs a few seconds shorter and features the same score as the first, but also gives us our first glimpse at Philip Seymour Hoffman's Lancaster Dodd a.k.a. The Master and his wife Mary Sue, played by Amy Adams. The clip is entitled "The Master - Hopelessly Inquisitive" and interesting to note that the title on the previous teaser has been updated to read "The Master - Was There A Fight?" Might we be getting a few more of these teases from Paul before October? Only time will tell.
Check out our Flickr page for hi-res stills from both teasers (perfect for your desktop wallpaper or Facebook cover photo). And though we've never been ones to fan the flames but feel we might be remiss if we didn't point out this.
Stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook for the latest news and updates.
Finally, the teaser for "The Master" (yes, that is what the title is) has arrived and yes, we got fucking chills watching it. The Weinstein Company confirms that it was (much like the "There Will Be Blood" teaser back in 2007) cut by Paul. Sound off in the comments below.
Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Thomas Anderson (the acclaimed director of, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia and Boogie Nights), this story stars Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) and Academy Award-nominee Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line).
Set in America in the years following World War II, a charismatic
intellectual (Hoffman) launches a faith-based organization and taps a
young drifter (Phoenix) as his right-hand man. But as the faith begins
to gain a fervent following, the onetime vagabond finds himself
questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor. A truly
one-of-a-kind drama, which promises magnetic virtuoso performances, the
film marks the fifth collaboration between Anderson and Hoffman,
following Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch Drunk Love.
Paul was even kind enough to drop us a line first thing this morning with a link to the trailer/site. Take it away, sir...

Magnolia Soundtrack
According to the Official Aimee Mann Website, the Magnolia soundtrack should hit stores around Thanksgiving and will include 8 of her songs. It's still not clear if there will be a score as well but I will keep you posted as new information comes in.
New Magnolia Trailer/Poster
Word from a loyal cigarettes and coffee reader is that a full trailer and theatrical poster should hit the theaters on or around September 30th. It will be great to see a full length trailer and the new poster design. I will update this information as soon as I learn more. (Thanks to Jason!)
