Image From 'Vice' Mixing Session Shows First Frame of Doc Sportello

We'll keep this one short and sweet. Via xixax, an image of Jonny Greenwood during what appears to be a mixing session for Inherent Vice has surfaced online today, with Larry "Doc" Sportello, in all his glory, accompanying him.

We'll be honest. This is not how we expected to see the first frame of film from the movie, but really... doesn't that make it even more exciting?

255 days and counting.

  1. This is similar to when that first 65mm film frame appeared showing us our first look at a tiny Lancaster Dodd.

  2. Also, is the composer always present in the mixing booth or does this mean that this soundtrack might be their first collaboration that is more time sensitive than floaty?

I.E while the music in TWBB and The Master could just drift over the various edited images and sequences, the scores of both Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love were more intrinsic and locked into the cutting and rhythms of the images.

  3. mhmmmm I'm not sure about the way that looks either... I'm wondering if Phoenix was the right choice for this role.. . Whatever far to early to tell by just one frame, I just really want it to be good, huge Anderson and even bigger Pynchon fan this whole thing is a dream come true, Anderson won't let us down. I'm dying for a trailer though!

    1. I do still wish Robert Downey Jr was playing Doc.. I got used to him in the role and read the book thinking of him for the part so whenever I think of Doc I just picture RDJ

    4. Of course, Joaquin is 10 years older than that but RDJ is 20.
